great girls weekend getaway!

We had a wonderful relaxing time at Sandy River. Candi thought of everything. All we needed to bring was our food, wine and movies. What a great quiet clean place for a getaway. The beds were very comfortable and everything was cozy and warm. Whatever we needed, Candi was right there on the spot. Thanks Candi for everything. We will definitely be back!

Great Getaway

This cabin was just what we wanted in a relaxing weekend. We loved being away from the hustle and bustle of the city, on the quiet farm. The cabin was cozy, clean, and well kept up. We kept the fireplace burning nearly the whole weekend, and the Smiths kept us stocked with firewood. Candice really has stocked the kitchen with everything you'll need. We were very impressed with how hospitable our hosts were - they did all that they could to make us comfortable.

This was our second time staying at Sandy River and they were both great. The cabins were clean and well equipped. We definitely plan to spend more time at this location. Thanks Candi for a professional transaction and personal attention upon arrival!!

We had a wonderful weekend at Sandy River Retreat. I would highly recommend this nice, clean, and cozy log cabin to family and friends. You all have stocked the cabin very well with everything renters need. Thanks for the bottle of wine!

Our family stayed in the "Eagle's Nest" and enjoyed our stay and accommodations. The property is well maintained by a wonderful family. Located less than 3 miles from Sandy River Reservoir with easy access to fishing, hunting and boating. The owners have paid attention to detail by providing their guests with linens, towels, stocked the kitchen with necessities such as coffee, sugar, laundry soap, flashlight, etc. Great for families or couples wanting a nice, quiet getaway!

Great Homecoming weekend

The three bedroom cabin had everything we could want for a weekend trip to Hampden-Sydney. The cabin accommodated three couples wonderfully. We grilled on the porch, enjoyed a fire in the fireplace, and visited with the farm animals. The drive to campus was quick and easy, and a big upgrade from the Farmville hotels. I would definitely recommend staying here to a friend.

Must See To Appreciate

My husband and I have gone to different places every year trying to find somewhere we would like to return to year after year. This place was it! Pictures on this cabin cannot possibly describe the beauty of it. There was plenty of space for my husband and I and 2 large dogs. It was one of the cleanest most comfortable places I have ever stayed. The amenities saved a lot of packing things we need. Think of it and it is there. If it's not there the owners will get it. The decor, the beds, towels and pillows are more comfortable than most would have at home. With my husband and I having some health problems, we never could sleep comfortable anywhere we stayed. This was a great nights sleep. We like to get away from people on vacation and this is it but with the convenience of being close to town. There is fishing anywhere you turn and very close. I am not easily impressed by places we stay but this one definitely impressed me. There was never a time that I needed help or had a question that the owners where not there to get it or ask. Thank you so much Candice for your personal touches and help. We will be back as much as possible.

Wonderful getaway!

This is the place for a wonderful getaway! There were so many amenities provided that we were amazed! The cleanliness was a comfort. The extra touches of fresh vegetables on the counter, coffee, tea, soap, shampoo, oil, sugar, cotton balls, and even qtips shocked us! We loved walking around on the property and sitting out on the porch. Wireless internet was a big plus as well as satellite TV. The property is very close to many activities...state parks, shopping, restaurants, etc., but you still feel like you are at a retreat away from everything. Our children are already asking when we will come back!

A beautiful Getaway

If you want to experience excellence in a modern cabin holiday, Sandy River Retreat is a perfect fit. The cabin had wi-fi, cable TV, wonderfully comfortable beds and a kitchen with everything we needed. The pastoral settings of the farm with it's sheep, donkeys and chickens make for great morning walks. The owners are a pleasure to be work with and were available at all times to assist us with any of our questions or needs. The nearby lakes were easily acessible, as well as the historic city of Farmville. There is truly something to do for everyone of every age to do, even our dog was in love with the retreat. I highly recommend visiting Sandy River Retreat for a long weekend of comfort and relaxation at it's best.
